Loading your old registers
Bringing patients and outstanding balances in from paper or spreadsheets, with a dry run first and no risk of loading twice.

Find it under System / Devices → Import data, and in the portal. The button is Choose a file and run the checks — the checks are the point.
Always dry run first
Loading a file has two steps and you cannot skip the first.
Dry run reads the file and tells you exactly what it would do: how many patients, how many it could not read and why, which lines have problems. It records nothing.
Read it. Fix the file. Dry run again. Only then commit.
Running it twice is safe
Committing the same file twice does not create a second copy of every patient. Each row is recognised, so a re-run loads what is missing and leaves what is already there.
This matters because the usual question — "did that finish?" — is otherwise a genuinely frightening one when the answer decides whether you have two of every patient.
Hospital numbers keep their old shape
Patients keep the number on their existing card, whatever shape it is. An
OLD-04120 is taken exactly as it stands. Only new patients registered in
Fikacare get a number from the series.
The number on a patient's card is how the hospital finds them. Renumbering everybody at migration would mean every card in every handbag was wrong.
Opening balances
What a patient already owed is loaded as an opening balance, credited to their account.
It is not revenue. The hospital earned that money before Fikacare existed, and counting it as income would overstate the first month's takings by exactly the sum of everything the hospital was ever owed. It appears in what patients owe, and never in revenue.
After a large import
Watch the banner on the machine that did it for a few minutes. A large import is a large number of records going up at once, and if any are in a shape the cloud will not accept you want to know now rather than next week — see Some writes were refused.
